Influencers tragically drowned at a yacht party after refusing to wear life jackets, claiming they would ruin their selfies and tans.
A group of influencers boarded a yacht enjoying a party
The influencers, Aline Tamara Moreira de Amorim, 37, and Beatriz Tavares da Silva Faria, 27, were enjoying a day out on the water when tragedy struck.
They were part of a larger group celebrating on a yacht off the coast of a place known as Devil’s Throat in Brazil.
Reports indicate that the boat was overcrowded, which added to the danger.
As the group took selfies and enjoyed the sun, the boat was hit by a large wave. The sudden impact caused the vessel to start sinking.
Eyewitnesses say that some members of the group were more focused on capturing perfect photos than on their safety.
Influencers tragically drown at yacht party after lifejacket refusal for better selfies
Police have reported that the influencers did not want to wear life jackets because they believed it would ruin their appearance in photos.
This decision was made despite the obvious risks of being out at sea without proper safety gear.

A police commissioner stated, “Some didn’t want to put them on because they were taking selfies. They said that they get in the way of their tanning.”

He mentioned that he was asked to take more people than his boat could safely hold.
The boat was only designed for five passengers, but he had six influencers on board. This overcrowding likely contributed to the incident.
When the wave struck, panic ensued. Many in the group struggled to stay afloat. The boat sank quickly, leaving the passengers in the water.
Survivors of the tragical sinking shared their horrible experience
Among the survivors was Vanessa Audrey da Silva, who later shared her terrifying experience.
She managed to find a life jacket and clung to rocks to avoid drowning.
“There was a moment in the water when no one could see anyone. I was fighting for life,” she recounted.
Another survivor, Camila Alves de Carvalho, also described the chaos. She held onto a life jacket as the waves crashed around her.
“There were very strong waves, we almost died. We didn’t know how to swim. I hurt my foot and swallowed a lot of water,” she said, recalling the struggle to survive.
Officials finally found the victims’ bodies after the accident
Unfortunately, Beatriz’s body was recovered soon after the sinking. Aline’s body was found a week later on a nearby beach.
This tragic loss has shocked the community and has led to an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
Commissioner Alfino said: “All this is being determined very calmly to conclude if the fatalities were based on recklessness or negligence.”
