If you’ve scrolled through TikTok recently, you may have noticed a new trend set to the lyrics of Cage the Elephant’s song “Cigarette Daydreams.” As the lyrics, “Cigarette daydreams/You were only 17” play in the background of their videos, participating teens share a story about a time in their lives when they were either sexualized at a young age, or put in a situation where they were forced to grow up quickly.
“I’m so sorry,” Mia captioned her video. “I don’t wear them anymore for this reason.”
Mia previously auctioned the glasses she wore during her three-month porn career in an effort to raise money for Lebanon’s Red Cross after the explosion in Beirut. They sold for about $100,000.
Commenters under Mia’s video sympathized with the 28-year-old, who has publicly expressed regret for her time in the porn industry and often speaks out against it. “It’s not your fault,” the comments say, one after another.
“No you don’t understand,” @oreo_mlkshake told Mia after she apologized. “This wasn’t ever your fault. You’re an inspiring woman. We all love you Mia.”
Many agree, believing the blame is not on Mia for simply working a job, but on the men who sexualized a 13-year-old girl, instead.
